Background

I started my career as a project engineer developing the Essure device — the first non-surgical method of permanent contraception after 50 years of unsuccessful attempts. That experience taught me something that shaped everything after: breakthrough medical technology only matters if people understand it.

Over 30 years across medical devices and pharmaceuticals, I held executive positions at both startups and Fortune 500 companies. In 2004, I co-founded Scientific Animations with my brother Girish Khera to bridge the gap between complex science and clear communication. We've since produced hundreds of mechanism-of-action animations, patient education programs, and clinical training materials for companies ranging from early-stage startups to the largest names in pharma.

Why I Write About GLP-1 Medications

GLP-1 receptor agonists represent one of the most significant developments in metabolic medicine in decades. But the gap between clinical evidence and patient understanding is enormous. People are making decisions about these medications based on Reddit threads, TikTok videos, and headlines stripped of nuance.

MetaBa exists to close that gap. Every article I write starts with peer-reviewed research — the same clinical trials and systematic reviews that inform physician decisions. I translate that evidence into language patients can act on, with every claim linked to its source. No hype. No fear-mongering. Just the science, made accessible.

My 30 years of working with pharmaceutical companies, clinical teams, and FDA-regulated products gives me the context to interpret this research accurately — understanding not just what a study says, but what it means for someone taking these medications in the real world.

How MetaBa Articles Are Made

Research-First Methodology

  1. Literature review — Every article begins with a systematic search of peer-reviewed sources (PubMed, major medical journals, published RCTs)
  2. Evidence synthesis — Key findings are extracted, cross-referenced, and verified against the original study data
  3. Clinical translation — Complex findings are written in clear language without sacrificing accuracy, with every claim citing its source
  4. Community context — Real patient experiences from GLP-1 communities (2,100+ posts analyzed) are synthesized to ground clinical evidence in lived experience
  5. Dual-version delivery — Each article ships in both a plain-language Standard version and a detailed Clinical version for healthcare professionals
